Welcome to Sanja's Therapy Room

What’s in the brain is in the body and what’s in the body is in the brain - David Grand

What are your hopes and fears about therapy? Finding a therapist with who you can build a collaborative relationship is essential--a person who understands, sees, and hears you, someone who walks alongside you toward insight, self-expression and organicity.

Hello! I’m Sanja, a somatic therapist dedicated to supporting individuals and couples across Ontario and beyond. I understand that much of our emotional dysregulation manifests at an embodied level. Given this, I primarily utilize a blend of mind-body aligned modalities, including Sensorimotor Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Brainspotting, and Polyvagal Theory.

Interested in learning more about my approach to therapy and the modalities I offer? Reach out for a complimentary consultation, and let's chat about your aims for therapy and how I can support you.

Individual Therapy

Therapy for grief, trauma, anxiety and others

We develop adaptive responses over time, enabling each of us to navigate challenging situations and environments. While these responses may help you cope in the moment, they can also hinder you from fully experiencing life.

Although we possess the ability to be present, past experiences and ingrained patterns often keep parts of self anchored in the past, influencing emotions, thoughts, and reactions.

Does that sound like you? I see the therapeutic process as an opportunity to create a safe space and a reparative experience, through which you can:

  • Feel prepared to take an exploratory and curious mindset towards making sense of your inner experiences, capacity to tolerate what comes up and to shift responses

  • Exploring physiological reactions, triggers, or activations in the body, sensory experiencing and nervous system, as well as processing them

  • Identify, understand and attune to emotions, coming to appreciate how defenses or protective parts of self armour vulnerabilities, needs, wants, insecurities

  • Gain a deeper insight into thought patterns that may be maladaptive or unhelpful to you

  • Fostering hope that lasting change is not only possible but within your reach

Treatment informed by: Sensorimotor, IFS, Brainspotting, Coherence Therapy, DBT and others.

Couples / Relational Therapy

Therapy for couples, parent-adult child relationship, relatives, or friends

Beyond individual therapy, I work with couples to assist you to make sense of, notice and navigate patterns of relating that are becoming entrenched, leading to resentment and getting in the way of you feeling connected.

Are you finding that you don't feel as connected to your partner as you used to? Do issues persist without resolution? Or maybe you get triggered or reactive toward your partner and are gridlocked?

I assist couples to make meaningful changes from reactivity, tension, and impasse toward mutual understanding, deepening their bond, and cultivating shared values while appreciating differences.

I approach the relational dynamic as itself receiving treatment and each partner brings ingredients to that dynamic that are activated within them due to past experiences and adaptations. Here to work alongside with you to shift those dynamics and invite hope back into your connection.

Treatment informed by: Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO),Gottman, Attachment Theory, and others.
